Joseph Geier, 82, of Casa Grande died on Oct. 16, 2013, at Family Tys Assisted Living Home.
Mr. Geier was born on Oct. 12, 1931, in Peoria County, Ill., and was a son of Vincent and Catherine Geier. He was a heavy equipment operator for Caterpillar Inc. and worked there for 37 years. He also ran a small airport and was an instructor pilot. After retirement he was an expert witness in trials for Caterpillar for 10 years. He worked his whole life.
He could and would fix almost anything, and his greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved road trips and steam-engine train rides.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Sara; two daughters, Julia Geier of Aurora, Ill., and Jane Phillips of Bloomington, Ill.; two brothers, Carl and Bill Geier of Illinois; five sisters, Gert Schoon, Ann Schoon, Mary McCoy and Rosa Shawgo, all of Illinois, and Helen McCloskey of Ohio; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Geier.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
