WET CAMP — Joe Arthur "Popo" Friesson Sr., 69, of Wet Camp died peacefully on Aug. 22, 2011, at Caring House in Sacaton, surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Monday at St. Peter feast house in Bapchule, with the wake continuing after 11 at the Verona Makil home in Wet Camp. The celebration of life will begin at 6 a.m. Tuesday at Vah-Ki Arbor in Casa Blanca, with Pastor Imogene Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Vah-Ki Cemetery.
Mr. Friesson was born on May 24, 1942, in McNeil, Ark. He was a truck driver and hauled hay for Hernandez Trucking of Guadalupe. After retiring he was self-employed, serving surrounding communities. He was kindhearted, well respected and happy to help people. He loved his animals, especially his horses. He enjoyed his friends and conversation.
Survivors include his wife, Verona Makil; two sons, Joe Friesson Jr. of Phoenix and Brenton Makil of Wet Camp; five daughters, Lorraine Jackson and Ernestine Friesson of Phoenix, Vapor Friesson-Neals of Tucson, Chevalla Vasquez and Delia Makil of Sacaton; his mother, Ruth Jackson of McNeil; two sisters, Loraine McBride and Betty Williams; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Burnett Friesson, and a brother, Burnett Friesson Jr.
