Joaquin Burruel Robles

August 17, 1918 — May 19, 2008

Joaquin Burruel Robles, 89, of Casa Grande died peacefully in his sleep on May 19, 2008 at Deborah's House care home.


Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 9. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 by the Rev. Kevin Clinch. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Mr. Robles was born Aug. 17, 1918 in Tucson to Pedro and Refugio Robles. He served in the Army during World War II and received an honorable discharge. He worked for many years at Benedict Feeding Co. and continued one day a week as a night watchman after retirement. He was known as a hard worker who passed on his work ethic to his family.

Before becoming ill he enjoyed playing horseshoes and cards. He was an avid fan of the Diamondbacks, Suns and Cardinals. He loved his family deeply.

Survivors include three daughters, Gloria Apodaca, Virginia Galvan and Annette Crum, all of Casa Grande; three sons, Jack, Manuel and Tony "Bowie" Robles, all of Casa Grande; a sister, Socorro Cabanillas of Eloy; a brother, Roy Robles of Oceanside, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Margarita; two sisters; four brothers; and a great-grandchild.
