James S. Blackford

James S. Blackford, 87, of Laveen died Jan. 1, 2009 at RTA Hospice House in Casa Grande.


The memorial service was held Tuesday at Desert Joy Church in Casa Grande, with Pastor Bob Beets officiating.

Mr. Blackford was born in Chicago and was a son of James F. and Leonore Blackford. He was a machinist and owned and operated Custom Bolt Co. for 50 years. He was known as a workaholic but enjoyed inventing, fishing and boat racing.

He is survived by a daughter, Joan Beets of Arizona City, and a grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Katherine (Biesbor) Blackford, and a son, James Peter Blackford.
