James Robinette

November 24, 1924 — May 2, 2011

James L. Robinette, 86, of Casa Grande, a longtime area resident, died on May 2, 2011, at Hospice Family Care.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel. The celebration of life will follow at 10, with the Rev. M.L. Shreffler officiating. Burial will be in National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix.
Mr. Robinette was born on Nov. 24, 1924, in Mansfield, Okla., and was a son of Elmer and Alice Robinette. He was a World War II veteran who served on the USS Zeilin in the South Pacific.
He was a grocery store owner and cherished his years living and working among the people of the Tohono O’odham Nation. He loved gardening, riding dune buggies and quads, and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Travis and Stephen Robinette of Casa Grande; four daughters, Wileen Smith of Salem, Ore., Linda Kruger and Judy Robinette of Casa Grande and Diane Seamon of Mesa; a brother, Don Robinette of Casa Grande; a sister, Odessa Jackson of Georgia; 24 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jodie; four brothers, Sam, John, William “Babe” and Raymond Robinette; a sister, Mary Robinette; and two grandchildren, Dianna Buckner and Phillip Smith.
