James L. Blackburn

October 13, 1919 — November 14, 2006

Mr Blackburn was a decorated veteran who served in WWII's intense battles as a Staff Sergeant in Company L, 147th Infantry Regiment. He conflicts in Guadal Canal, Iwo Jima, Bismarck ARchipelago, Tonga and the Samoan islands. His commendations include 3 Bronze Stars, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbons, American Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Ribbon.
In 1951 he moved with his wife and daughter to Casa Grande where he worked in the auto service industry at NAPA and Chevy dealerships as parts manager. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, DeMolay fraternal organization; he was President of the Hi-12 Club, Vice-President of the Kiwanis Club and dedicated to other civic duties. He attended Glad Tiding Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Blackburn, brothers, sisters, a daughter and son-in-law and 2 granddaughters.
