James Byrne

James Byrne passed away August 28, 2013 at his residence in Casa Grande. He was born in New York and worked as a police officer. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police/Hempstead Police Department in Hempstead, NY from 1961-1981. He was also a
member of the Police Benevolent Association. James was an Army veteran, received the police gold star of valor, worked with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Posse. He was also a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
James is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; two daughters, Gaëlle (Ralf) Freer of Poplar Bluff, MO, and Nathalie (Larry) of Long Island, NY; one son, Hugues (Lori) of Casa Grande, AZ; and one sister, Anne (Jacques) Le Vaillant of Hicksville, NY; four grandchildren, Hugues II and Christopher Byrne, Susan (Anthony) Zahariadis and Alexander Freer. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Frances Byrne.
Services will be Tuesday, September 3 at 10:00 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Father John Arnold will be officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Casa Grande.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, attn: Advanced Guard, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 in honor of James Byrne.
