ELOY — J.C. Amerson, 90, a longtime Eloy businessman, died on April 23, 2011, at Hospice Family Care in Casa Grande.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Valley Chapel. The funeral will follow at 11, with Pastor Harley Faber officiating. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Mr. Amerson was born on March 18, 1921, in Wheeler, Texas, and was a son of Floyd O. Amerson and Amanda E. McCaslin. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and was a sergeant. He owned and operated Valley Auto Parts for 35 years. He sponsored Sprint cars and had state champions three years in a row. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, of which he was a past commander, a life member of Elks in Casa Grande, a member of Arizona City Moose Lodge and Eloy Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Etta Ruth; a daughter, Patricia Combs of Selma, Calif.; two sisters, Lavern Cagle of Tulia, Texas, and Erdean Morgan of Norman, Okla.; a brother, Coy G. Amerson of Eloy; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Hollis and Don L. Amerson, and three sisters, Verdia Elkins, Lavenia Williams and Vesta Stringer.
