Idella Cannon

CASA GRANDE - Idella Cannon, 76, died on Jan. 25, 2018, at Banner Casa Grande Medical Center.

Mrs. Cannon was born on June 16, 1941, in Marvell, Arkansas, to Lee H. and Everlen Farr. She accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. J.W. Webb. She graduated from Marvell High School in 1959 and later moved to Chicago, where she became a faithful member of Canaan Baptist Church of Christ. She loved and trusted God throughout her life.

She developed a love and passion for patient care and worked at Woodlawn Hospital, Mercy Hospital, in private home care and at Little Company of Mary Hospital, where she retired in 2000. She loved her family and was devoted to them. In 1992 she met Virgil O. Cannon, and he became her husband after a beautiful courtship. She loved to cook for her family and friends during holidays and special occasions. She was very classy and loved and cared deeply for people. A few of her hobbies were shopping and making her home beautiful and comfortable for others.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Ruthie R. Browning; a stepdaughter, Mishaun Cannon of Chicago; two stepsons, Virgil Cannon Jr. of Lake Villa, Illinois, and Jumoka Amonakon of Chicago; seven siblings, Johnella Williams, Beatrice Farr and Johnnie Mae Oshipitan of Chicago, Joann Mitchell of Marvell, Carolyn Farr Onuora of Little Rock, Arkansas, John Farr of Helena, Arkansas, and Wardall Farr of Detroit; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Willie C., Robert Lee and Curdell Farr, and a sister, Geneva Farr.

Visitation beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with funeral at 11 and Pastor Hank Cannon officiating. Final service and interment at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Marvell.
