Houston Charles

December 19, 1936 — October 2, 2011

SACATON — Houston Lyle Charles, 74, died on Oct. 2, 2011, at Caring House.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. Friday at Vah-Ki Presbyterian Church in Casa Blanca. The celebration of life will begin at 8 a.m., with Pastor Imogene Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Vah-Ki Cemetery.
Mr. Charles was born on Dec. 19, 1936, in Sacaton and was a son of Lewis and Lucy Charles. He worked in Gila River Community Services and was a sweet, kind and patient man who was content, never complained and was accepting of others. He believed his biggest achievement was getting a degree from Central Arizona College. He spent the last six years at Caring House and thought of the staff as his second family.
Survivors include two sisters, Myrtle Charles of Phoenix and Ruhama Charles-Knox of Laveen, and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Esau and Arnold Charles and Dennis Percy, and two sisters, Julie Soke and Hilda Kisto.
