Guillermo "Willie" Ramos

CASA GRANDE - Guillermo "Willie" Ramos, 74, of Casa Grande died peacefully at home on Aug. 6, 2015, with his loved ones by his side, after a battle with cancer.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church by the Rev. Ariel Lustan. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Mr. Ramos was born on Dec. 23, 1940, in Tucson and was a son of Solomon Ramos and Juanita Herrera. He later had a stepfather, Simon Martinez. He moved to Casa Grande at age 8 and had many interests as a young man. He liked watching wrestling matches downtown and going to the movies. He was a great swimmer and runner. In 1960 he married the love of his life, Josie.

He was a hardworking man and a union pipelayer for 20 years. He later was a school custodian and became the lead custodian at Cholla Elementary. He loved to make salsa of all kinds and would share it with his family, friends and coworkers. He loved to take his wife dancing and to wear his favorite Hawaiian shirts. During football season, he would be watching the San Diego Chargers. He was devoted to his family and when told he was truly loved by all, he would say, "Yes, I am!"

In addition to his wife of 55 years, survivors include four sons, William C. Ramos Jr. of Tucson, Robert "Bobby" Ramos of Santa Cruz, California, David "Woody" and Jaime Ramos of Casa Grande; a daughter, Sylvia Ramos of Tucson; four brothers, Solomon Ramos Jr., Roberto and Roy Martinez of Casa Grande and Simon Martinez of Yuma; four sisters, Tina Gonzales of Casa Grande, Mary Garza of Arizona City, Anita Pena of Floresville, Texas, and Dora Roberts of Denton, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Ramos.
