Gordon Encinas

CHUICHU - Gordon Lee Encinas Sr., 56, of Chuichu died on Dec. 31, 2017, at HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center, with his mother and son Gordon Jr. at his bedside.

Mr. Encinas was born on May 2, 1961, in Sacaton to Leander and Angela Encinas. He graduated from Casa Grande Union High School and worked as a carpenter.

His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys. He made items showing his expertise at traditional beadwork.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Angela and Victor Zepeda of Chuichu; four sons, Gordon Encinas Jr. and Ruben Thomas of Chuichu, Jeremy and Jason Harvey of Choulic; four brothers, Rogelio and Loren Gastelum of Chuichu, Aloysius and Leroy Encinas of San Xavier; a sister, Andrea Encinas of San Xavier; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral Mass celebrated at 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, at St. Augustine Catholic Mission in Chuichu, followed by a wake. Burial early Saturday, Jan. 13, in North Chuichu Cemetery.
