Glen A. Lewis

BLACKWATER - Glen A. Lewis Sr., 86, of Blackwater died on Dec. 10, 2013, at home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the District 1 Multipurpose Building. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Coolidge Indian Assembly of God, with the Rev. Loretto Rickson officiating. Burial will be in Blackwater West Cemetery.

Mr. Lewis was born on Aug. 8, 1927, in Blackwater and was a son of Lena and Enoch R. Lewis Sr. An Army veteran of World War II, he later was a custodian and bus driver for Blackwater School. Many of the students, who called him "Grandpa," remember him still.

A hardworking man, he kept very busy even after retirement. He loved spending time with his family and helped in raising his grandchildren. He accepted the Lord later in life and enjoyed going to church. He also enjoyed listening to Christian gospel music.

Survivors include five daughters, Yvonne Lewis of Blackwater, Beryl Lewis of Sacaton, Lenora Lewis, Glenna Blackwater and Jennifer Manuel, all of Blackwater; a son, Glen Lewis Jr. of Anegam; two sisters, Claudia Ortiz of Illinois and Delia Juan of Blackwater; 27 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Brandon and Norman Lewis; two daughters, Denise Jones and Elizabeth Lewis; two brothers, Maurice and Enoch Lewis Jr.; and a sister, Eleanor Matthews.

J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud Coolidge Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
