George Peoples

George William Peoples Jr., 75, of Casa Grande died on Jan. 31, 2014, at home.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 by the Rev. John Arnold.

Mr. Peoples was born on June 18, 1938, in Cincinnati and was a son of George W. Peoples Sr. and Helen Kruse Peoples. He served in the Army and received a bachelor’s degree from Fairmont (W.Va.) State College (now University). He worked for Abbott Laboratories for 27 years before retirement and was human resources manager of the Abbott Nutrition plant in Casa Grande, hiring the original employees there.

He was active in Rotary, received its Paul Harris Fellow designation and was president of the Casa Grande Rotary Club. He also was affiliated with the Greater Casa Grande Chamber of Commerce, Silent Witness, the Casa Grande Personnel Advisory Board, Casa Grande Regional Medical Center board and Drug Abuse Resistance Education.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary J.; three daughters, Mary Lynn Hardebeck of Norwich, England, Susan Salomone of New Orleans and Sally Peoples of Casa Grande; a son, Mark Peoples of Georgia; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Dunn.
