Genevieve Rose Honie

July 31, 1950 — July 19, 2013

SACATON - Sacaton native Genevieve Rose Honie died Friday, July 19, 2013, at the Caring House. She was 62.

A funeral is scheduled for 6 a.m. Saturday at First Pima Baptist Church in Sacaton. The Revs. Aaron Johns and Al Campson officiate. Burial follows at West Cemetery in Sacaton.

Visitation is at 6 p.m. Friday at the District 3 Service Center in Sacaton.

Genevieve Honie was born July 31, 1950, in Sacaton, to Rebecca Thomas and Aloysius Kisto.

She loved to take care of children, spending time with her grandkids, hanging out with her sisters and being with her family. Genevieve loved to sing and listen to all kinds of music. And, she loved to work on puzzles.

She worked as a teacher’s aide in the tribal education program.

Survivors include two daughters, Lois Honie of Sacaton and Lila Curtis of Mesa; eight sisters, Brenda Kisto-Natani of Sacaton, Sheryl Kisto of Casa Grande, Cordelia Kisto of Sacaton, Consuella Narcia of Ak-Chin, Phyllis Lewis of Ak-Chin, Rosalie Narcia of Ak-Chin, Betty Bolden of Maricopa and Lavern Bolden of Kearny; seven brothers, Brian Kisto of Sacaton, Harold Kisto of Phoenix, Dwayne Kisto of Santan, Milton Kisto of Casa Blanca, Reynaldo Kisto of Blackwater, Luis Kisto of Tempe and Lonnie Kisto of Los Angeles; four grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Honie.
