FLORENCE — Fredrick James Ramon, 55, of Florence died on March 4, 2012, in Gilbert.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the family home, with a rosary service and wake beginning at 7 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Mission. The graveside service will be at 7 a.m. Monday in Florence Cemetery, with Deacon Alfred Gonzales Sr. officiating.
Mr. Ramon was born on July 19, 1956, in Sacaton. He competed in cross country, basketball and football during high school. He served in the military and was a corrections officer for 27 years with the Arizona Department of Corrections.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling and made an annual pilgrimage to Magdalena, Sonora, Mexico, for the St. Francis feast. He was looking forward to retiring and traveling more. He was quiet, kind and gentle and also a joker. He enjoyed music, mainly chicken scratch, oldies and Mexican. He also had a love for animals.
Survivors include his companion of 25 years, Emily Marrietta; two sisters, Felicia and Barbara Ramon of Florence; and two brothers, Richard and Gabriel Ramon of Sacaton. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Ramon; a brother, Michael J. Ramon; and a sister, Caroline Ramon.
J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud Coolidge Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
