Funeral services for Forrest D. Mathis, better known as Buddy, 70, of Maricopa, AZ will be held at Heaven’s View Baptist Church, 12945 S. San Simon Rd Arizona City, AZ with Pastor Darrel Roe officiating on March 18, 2023 at 10:00 am.

Mr. Mathis was born December 10, 1952 in Tucson, AZ. He passed away March 4, 2023, in Maricopa, AZ.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, hard working father that loved his family and always provided for them. He always trusted Christ, his savior.

He is survived by his ex-wife and close friend of 55 years, Cathy L. Mathis, two sons, Jeremy D. Mathis of Mesa, AZ, Eric DA Mathis of Casa Grande, two daughters, Angelique G. Mathis of New Hampshire, and Candice L. Hedquist of California. He also leaves behind two wonderful daughters-in-law, Olivia and Teri and a son-in-law, Lee Hedquist, all of whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by two sisters, Betty J. Graham of Coolidge, AZ and Frances Urias of California, two brothers, Mark and Michael Mathis, both of California. He had 10 grandchildren that he loved with all his heart, and he made special time for each of them weekly. He will also be missed by 31 nieces and nephews and his best friend, Floyd Keith Medlock, as well as many other friends and family members that he loved dearly. His little house roommates, his chihuahuas, Jade and Photon will also miss him very much.

He was preceded in death by his father, Forrest R. Mathis of L.A., California, mother, Billie J. Hornton of Coolidge, AZ, stepfather, Albert Hornton of Coolidge, AZ and two brothers, David Roberson and Author Maxam, both of Coolidge, AZ.
