Elmer Castillo

SANTA ROSA VILLAGE — Elmer Augustine Castillo, 66, of Santa Rosa died on May 10, 2010, at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at West Santa Rosa Camp Meeting Ground. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. in Polly Castillo Memorial Chapel, with Brother Roy Begay officiating. Burial will be in Castillo Cemetery.
Mr. Castillo was born on Sept. 8, 1943, in Santa Rosa and was a son of Phillip Lopez and Melissa Castillo. He was a maintenance worker at Santa Rosa Boarding School. He attended Polly Castillo Chapel and the Santa Rosa Elderly Center. He was always willing to teach Tohono O’odham culture to family and friends, sharing his knowledge with all. He enjoyed leather work, especially making wallets and belts.
Survivors include two daughters, Angela D. Castillo of San Xavier and Elmerna Castillo of Santa Rosa; three sons, Patrick A. and Anthony G. Castillo Sr. of Tucson and Verland J. Castillo of Santa Rosa; a brother, George Jose of Sit Skye; a sister, Marcella Mapatis of Sells; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Polly, and a brother, Joe Jose.
