ELOY — Eleanor M. Zaragoza, 83, of Eloy died peacefully on Dec. 26, 2011, at home, with her family by her side.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 8. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 10 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Rudy Rosales. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Mrs. Zaragoza was born on Sept. 2, 1928, in Casa Grande and was a daughter of Mercedes and Filiberto Lopez. She worked as a bartender. Known as "Ms. Z" or "Grandma Z" to everyone, she was devoted to her family, friends and church and taught catechism for 33 years at St. Helen's Church. She loved music and dancing, played piano by ear and was a big Dallas Cowboys fan. Her family, especially the young children, were her life.
Survivors include six daughters, Lydia Zaragoza of Eloy, Yolanda Ortega and Pat Figueroa of Casa Grande, Gloria Harrison of Picacho, Teresa Espinoza of Casa Grande and Eleanor Zaragoza of Eloy; two sons, Faustino Zaragoza Jr. of Reno, Nev., and Andrew Zaragoza of Chandler; four brothers, David, Robert, Carlos and Filiberto Lopez; four sisters, Virginia Meyers, Teresa Clark, Carmen Fasiq and Laura Lopez; 34 grandchildren; and 60 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Faustino Zaragoza Sr.; a sister, Rebecca Lopez; and three grandchildren, Stephanie Marez, Santiago Zaragoza and Patrick Marez.
