ELOY - Edell Lewis, 97, of Eloy died on Sept. 30, 2015, at home with his loved ones by his side.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Mount Zion Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 11, with Pastor Charlie Joe Payne officiating. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.

Mr. Lewis was born on Nov. 19, 1917, in Dawson, Texas, and was a son of Neice Becks and John Lewis. He served in the Army during World War II, qualified as a sharpshooter and was honorably discharged. He later was a machine operator for Miller Enterprises for 25 years before retirement.

In later years he was homebound and during that time accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior under the pastorship of his nephew, Charlie Joe Payne. He was loving and caring and loved spending time talking to his niece Bertha about his life’s journey. He loved feeding his cats and watching westerns.

His wife of 75 years, Ethel, died last year, and he is survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
