ELOY - Eduardo "Eddie" Mendez, 17, of Eloy died on Oct. 11, 2013.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 9 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Rudy Rosales. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Mr. Mendez was born on April 4, 1996, in Casa Grande. He was a student at Vista Grande High School and played football and baseball. He really enjoyed pickup basketball and football games with Jove, Devin, Jakob and Miguel. He was an avid Cowboys, Lakers, Braves and Sun Devils fan. He had aspirations of attending Central Arizona College.
He attended St. Helen of the Cross Church. He enjoyed playing video games, listening to music and watching sports, and also TV series with his Nana Olivia. He enjoyed working but most of all he loved his family. He also enjoyed cookouts and get-togethers.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Christy V. and Damien White of Coolidge; his father, Eduardo M. Mendez of Tucson; three brothers, Dante R. and Dashon A. White of Coolidge and Miguel Maldonado of Eloy; two sisters, Alicia V. Belloc and Destiny White of Coolidge; grandparents, Richard Carino, Arturo and Leticia Cosillos, Freddy and Olivia Maldonado and Francisco Mendez, all of Eloy, and Flavia Soto of Maricopa; and a great-grandfather, Pascual M. Vasquez of Eloy. He was preceded in death by a sister, Felicia White; grandparents, Arturo and Cruz Cosillos; and great-grandparents, Porfiria Vasquez and Minnie Carino.
