Douglas Lizotte

Douglas (Doug) Lizotte, 77, of Eloy, AZ passed away peacefully on April 26, 2023, surrounded by his wife, 2 daughters and son-in-law after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Doug was born in Crookston, MN on March 12, 1946, to Leonard and Mildred Lizotte. After graduating from high school in Red Lake Falls, MN, Doug eventually moved to Minneapolis, MN where he lived prior to moving to Arizona.

Doug was an avid reader of murder mystery novels and was even inspired to take pen to paper to create his own short story. In addition to reading, he enjoyed hitting the links with Mary, his wife of nearly 55 years.

Doug was quick to start a conversation with those he encountered and was loved by all who met him. He came prepared with a joke and never failed to illicit a laugh, which continued until his last days.

Doug is survived by his wife, Mary, daughter Melissa Lizotte, daughter Andrea (Lizotte) Granstrom, son-in-law, Eric Granstrom, grandson, Matthew and granddaughter Leah.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Mildred Lizotte.

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at St. Helen’s of the Cross in Eloy AZ. Mass will begin at 10:00 AM with visitation 1 hour prior to the mass and a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley who so compassionately cared for Doug in the final days, or donor’s choice.
