Dorothy A. Erdman

Dorothy A. Erdman (Dottie) of Eloy, Arizona died April 14, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held at J. Warren Funeral Services, Casa Grande, Arizona on May 8 at 1:00 p.m. Dottie was born September 28, 1935 in Durango, Colorado. She spent her formative years in Arizona on the Navajo Reservation, in Tucson for all her education through high school, and in Flagstaff for her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Dottie taught her first year in Casa Grande, then moved to east San Diego County, California, teaching in several districts there. She returned to Eloy, Arizona in 1973 and began teaching in the Eloy Elementary schools. In 1982, after receiving her Master’s degree in Reading at the University of Arizona in 1979, she became principal of Curiel Primary School for 11 years. She moved to Eloy Junior High School in 1992 and retired in 1996 for her first retirement. In 1997 Dottie became a professor for Northern Arizona University’s Distance Learning program, teaching classes to college students in reading, curriculum, and classroom management. For her final 10 years in education, Dottie supervised student teachers throughout Pinal County. Education is what she truly loved besides her family. She also served as a member of the Pinal County Federal Credit Union Board of Directors in various capacities for 41 years. Survivors include Dottie’s five children: David Noe (Vince), Rusty Noe (Janet), Bob Noe (Irma), Lester Erdman (Leslie) and Lisa Gipson (Darwin); 10 grandchildren: Margaret, Darwin Jr., Alexandra, Jessica, Rachael, Tyndan, Traegon, Danaysha, Treven and Tanyon; and 10 greatgrandchildren. Dottie is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Erdman; her parents, Dorothy and Robert Frazer; her sister, Roberta Louise Jones; and her brother, Jonathan Thomas Frazer. In lieu of flowers or charitable donations, please consider support of or participation in public education, Dottie’s vocation and passion of 60 years.
