Donald Glenn Peters

COOLIDGE - Donald Glenn Peters, 74, of Coolidge died after a battle with cancer on Feb. 21, 2016, at Florence Hospital at Anthem, with his family by his side.

Mr. Peters was born on Aug. 5, 1941, in Humphreys, Missouri, to William and Sarah (Raney) Peters. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering at Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy (now Missouri University of Science and Technology) and a Master of Engineering in civil engineering from Texas A&M University. He had a 28-year career in the Army, including two tours of duty in Vietnam along with assignments in Germany, Panama and various posts in the United States. He retired as a lieutenant colonel and received several awards and commendations.

In his second career, he was public works director and city engineer in Coolidge for 18 years until retirement in 2010.

Survivors include his wife and best friend of more than 50 years, Thelma Sue (Andrews) Peters; a son, Daniel Peters of Bel Air, Maryland; two daughters, Peggi Peters of Afton, New York, and Pattie Peters-Sittner of Queen Creek; a sister, Kay Stuart of Trenton, Missouri; and four grandchildren.

The memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. March 17 in National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
