Domingo V. Hernandez

Domingo V. Hernandez, 84, of Maricopa died April 11, 2009 at Chandler Regional Medical Center.


Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Casa Grande, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass was celebrated there at 10 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Kevin Clinch. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery.

Mr. Hernandez was born Jan. 18, 1925 in Gregory, Texas. He worked in maintenance. He enjoyed the company of his family, especially the children. He enjoyed recalling his past and telling stories in intricate detail. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, listening to music and giving pocket change to the children.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores G.; seven daughters, Esmeralda H. Gomez, Maria Elena H. Martinez, Stella H. Ortiz, Olivia H. Campos, Dora H. Morris, Rosemary H. Soliz and Hermalinda H. Mavis; two sons, Ruben G. and Raymond G. Hernandez; two sisters, Julia H. Cortez and Hilaria H. Lumbrera; 34 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
