Dirk Kalka Sr.

Dirk Lay Kalka Sr., 93 of Upper Santan, died January 15, 2022, in Sacaton, Arizona. He was born November 19, 1928, to Mark and Lena Kalka in Sacaton, Arizona. Mr. Kalka Sr. was from District 4, Upper Santan on the Gila River Indian Community. Dirk was a Korean War Veteran and a paratrooper with the 187th Airborn Regimental Combat Team a.k.a “Rakkasans”. He was an inspirational figure to our family and was an advocate for veteran’s services and resources in the Community. He was also a member of the Upper Santan Presbyterian Church. He retired from Sacaton Public Schools after countless years of service as a bus driver.
He is survived by his wife Angeline Kalka, three daughters, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
