Delphine T. "Dell" Sarnowski, 95, of Casa Grande, founder of a well-known restaurant and sports bar, died on June 9, 2012, at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 by the Rev. John Arnold. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mrs. Sarnowski was born on April 20, 1917, in Chicago and was a daughter of Casimir and Mary Koscielski. In the 1930s she was an avid ballroom dancer. She moved to Arizona in 1963 and with her husband started Dell's Pizza in Arizona City in 1964. In 1968 they moved the restaurant to its present location on North Pinal Avenue in Casa Grande.
She was a member of St. Anthony's Church and loved going to Mass, spending time with her family and watching her favorite sports teams, the Arizona Wildcats, Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter, Edward D. Sarnowski of Fort Myers, Fla., Sandra DeHaan and Tim Sarnowski of Casa Grande; a brother, Daniel Koscielski of Vermont; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. "Ed," in 1977; an infant son, Bobby; and 10 siblings.
