Daniel Y. Martinez

FLORENCE - Daniel Y. Martinez, 82, died on Aug. 17, 2019.

Mr. Martinez was born on April 1, 1937, to Bill and Leonor Martinez in the old mining town of Tiger in southeastern Pinal County. He was an Army veteran who served in Korea. He played in a band in the Florence and Coolidge area and participated in rodeos for years. He retired from the Pinal County Public Works Department after 25 years.

He was a past commander of American Legion Post 9 in Florence and a past district commander. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing and working in the yard.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; five adult children, Daniel Martinez of Louisiana, Lai Lani Pinkston of Alabama, Daniel Stevens of Michigan, Dee Stevens of Texas and Margie McMullen of Michigan; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
