Damon Francis Mayshore

CASA GRANDE - Damon Francis Mashore, 93, a longtime Casa Grande resident who was honored for his work on the Casa Grande Food Bank, died on July 6, 2016.

Mr. Mashore was born on Sept. 10, 1922, in Peacock, Texas, to Jesse and Napoleon Bonaparte Mashore. He married the love of his life, Betty Hazel Murphy, and later moved his family to Casa Grande on July 4, 1951, living in the city until his death. He started a well drilling service and operated it until the late 1980s.

He and his wife were instrumental in operating the Casa Grande Food Bank, and the city named nearby Reed-Mashore Park partially in their honor. He enjoyed his family, including his grandchildren, baseball, fishing and travel with his family and friends. He was an avid bowler and especially enjoyed golf.

Survivors include a daughter and two sons, Judy Mashore Skelly, Mike and Kevin Mashore; two brothers; two sisters; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and a grandchild.

Memorial donations may be made to the Casa Grande Food Bank. No service is planned.
