Christopher Reuben "Chris" Owens

CASA GRANDE - Christopher Reuben "Chris" Owens, 41, of Casa Grande died on Oct. 8, 2015, at home.

The service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Complete Parachute Solutions, 4253 N. Parachute Road in Coolidge.

Mr. Owens was born on June 18, 1974, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

He served in the Marine Corps, was a military free fall instructor for CPS and made 9,912 jumps, his first at age 18.

He was a BASE jumper, meaning jumps from building, antenna, span and Earth (cliff), and had BASE No. 540.

He logged 174 BASE jumps, was a member of the Magpul three-way free-fly team and made his last jump with his Magpul training team.

He trained military jumpers in Saudi Arabia, the Czech Republic, Chile and special forces across the United States.

He loved the Great Smoky Mountains and was a tenderhearted man of faith. He always had a smile, especially in the sky, and was loved by many.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Theresa A.; a daughter and son, Paige A. and Noah R. Owens of Casa Grande; his mother and stepfather, Deborah E. and Clint Griffith; his father and stepmother, Joseph and Donna Owens; a brother, Joshua D. Owens of Casa Grande; and a sister, Cori O. Williams of Columbia, South Carolina.
