Charles Daniel Walker

December 7, 1940 — July 1, 2021

Charles Daniel Walker was born on December 7, 1940, the youngest of five to Della and Charles Shay Walker in Coolidge, Arizona. God called him home, and Charles went peacefully after his children prayed over him on July 1, 2021.

Charles grew up with his loving tight-knit family in Woodburn, Oregon. He was a spirited young man who had a love for animals and nature. This passion showed throughout his life with his pets, from his horse Dusty to his last pup Coco and his always-beautiful gardens.

After graduating High School, he served his country as a Petty Officer Third Class in the Navy for four years. During the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, Charles' ship was one of the many ready for battle. Leaving the Navy as a Veteran, he worked for San Clemente State Park and Recreation in California, where he resided and worked for thirty-one years with much dedication. He retired in 2005 and moved to Arizona City, Arizona, with his wife of fifty-seven years.

He met and fell in love with Ofelia Flores while serving in the Navy, and after their courtship, they were married on October 24, 1964. The year following their marriage, they welcomed their first of four children whom he loved dearly. He taught his children how to fish, hunt and taught them all about camping. They will forever remember their family road trips back up to Oregon every year as some of the greatest moments of their childhood.

Charles being the sports enthusiast he was, enjoyed watching every seasonal sport as a pastime; his favorite was baseball. A New York Yankees fan through and through is something that he passed on to his grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings Gladys, Dorothy, Betsy, and Howard Walker. He is survived by his loving wife, Ofelia, and four children, Diana, Julie, Suzanne, and Daniel Walker. His ten grandchildren will forever remember how much he adored them, and his six great-grandchildren will be told the story of his life. He will always be loved and kept in his family's heart.
