Carolyn Elaine Drown

June 17, 1951 — February 26, 2016

CASA GRANDE, AZ

Carolyn Elaine Drown was born in Columbus, Ohio, on June 17, 1951, and died on February 26, 2016, in Casa Grande, Arizona, after a short illness. She was an important part of many people’s lives: wife and "honey" to Dianne Seitz Cravens for 27 years; devoted daughter to the late Phyllis and Ralph Drown; sister to Steven Drown (Jeanne); Patricia Drown Ellison (John), and Gary Drown (Susie); aunt to Nicole and Spencer Firman and Casey Dobie; great aunt to Triston, Victoria, and Arabella; mother to Krystal Chavez; mother through marriage to Theresa Cravens, Tracey Cravens-Gras (Bruno), and Scott Cravens-Brown; grandmother to Adon, Alden, Maya, and Ethan; godmother to Katherine and Catlyn; and a longtime loving friend to Annie, Margaret, and Rhonda.

There were no strangers in Carolyn’s life. When she met someone she would smile in a rather contagious way and make them feel at home. Besides a deep devotion to her wife, family, and friends, she was crazy about nature and camping, Arizona, vampires, scary stories, capturing the perfect photograph, Halloween, cooking great food, and purple. To Carolyn, life was a joyous adventure filled with love.

A graduate of Northland High School, Carolyn received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Columbus State Community College, and enjoyed a long, successful career in the field. She served in the Ohio National Guard in the 1970s, and more recently worked as an appraiser, and as a retail associate at Safeway in Casa Grande.

Carolyn’s family and friends will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Carolyn was a passionate advocate against domestic abuse. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carolyn’s name can be made to Against Abuse (PO Box 10733, Casa Grande, AZ 85130)
