Bill "Cash" Mckay

March 11, 1930 — May 8, 2014

Bill "Cash" McKay, 84, of Casa Grande, a longtime area businessman, died on May 8, 2014, at Family Tree Assisted Living.

The celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. May 24 at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with Dick Powell officiating.

Mr. McKay was born on March 11, 1930, in Henryetta, Oklahoma, and was a son of William J. McKay and Nellie Bailey. During his lifetime he owned and operated two service stations, a restaurant and a car dealership, McKay Motors, and also farmed, was a cattle rancher and ran team ropings.

He was president of the Picacho Elementary School District board for more than a decade and a member of Eloy Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years. He loved to barter and play poker, and Texas hold ’em was his favorite game. He enjoyed his cabin in Pinetop and loved spending time with his family. He felt he was blessed to be able to lead a life "according to Cash," which meant spending most of it as a cowboy.

Survivors include four daughters, Karen McKay and Cheryl Coxon of Casa Grande, Brenda McKee of Gilbert and Kim Bishop of Chandler; a brother, Earl "Buck" McKay of Portales, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen; four sisters; and a brother.
