Augustine "Auggie" Ruelas

Augustine "Auggie" Ruelas, 74, of Casa Grande died on Sept. 23, 2013, at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church by the Rev. John Arnold. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Ruelas was born on Aug. 28, 1939, in Casa Grande and was a son of Alejandro and Genobeba Cobarubios Ruelas. He graduated from Casa Grande Union High School and received an Associate of Science degree from Central Arizona College. He married Angelita "Angie" Sauceda on Nov. 11, 1967. He worked for Hexcel and Pinal County as a flagman and collecting insects before becoming a craftsman for CAC. He worked there for 27 years before retirement.
He loved spending time with his family and friends and was a member of St. Anthony’s Church. He designed and built his own home as well as other buildings. He was a volunteer firefighter for CAC and supported local education and the fine arts. He enjoyed hiking in the desert, listening to Elvis Presley and watching the Weather Channel, news, "The Lawrence Welk Show" and westerns.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Annamarie Ortiz of Casa Grande, Gloria Garcia of Arizona City and Victoria Ruelas of Casa Grande; a brother, Alejandro Ruelas Jr. of Casa Grande; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Antonio and Juan Garcia.
