Charlotte Mcgannon

December 29, 1943 — November 24, 2017

CASA GRANDE - Charlotte A. Silveira McGannon, 73, died peacefully at home on Nov. 24, 2017, in Casa Grande after a brave battle with lung and liver cancer.

Ms. McGannon was one of three daughters born to Clell and Betty Birlenbach of Pasadena, California. She raised a family in Healdsburg, California, where she was an elementary school teacher from 1972 until 2001. For almost 30 years she was a devoted and caring teacher to many Healdsburg children.

Her passion for teaching was nearly matched by her love for travel. She looked at it as "education time" and would make sure she gained knowledge every summer by traveling abroad with her girlfriends. Her love for warm breezes and the beach often lured her to sunny destinations. No matter how busy life got, she always made time to scrapbook. She chronicled her trips, celebrated her kids and created handmade holiday cards for her grandchildren. To say scrapbooking was a hobby was an understatement, it was a passion. She also was enthusiastic about teaching pickleball. She shared her love of the game with others while growing a thriving program for the town of Windsor. She loved life and lived it to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by her sister Sally and her twin sister Karen. Survivors include her devoted partner, Al Picken; a son and two daughters, Scott Silveira of Santa Rosa, California, Elaine K. Silveira of Santa Rosa and Shauna Silveira of Redmond, Oregon; and five grandchildren.

No service at her request.

Donations may be made to a hospice in Casa Grande.

J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel in charge of arrangements.
